An absolutely fascinating research center where you can explore the botanical garden and arboretum checking out bizarre species like the Chinese box orange, Caja anaranjada (Severina buxifolia) and the Nuez Pili (Canarium commune) with nuts containing oils (fatty-acid methyl ester) meeting all of the major biodiesel requirements.

Entrance is by a “suggested” donation of $5 for foreigners (Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., last guided tour at 3:00, groups by arrangement). The suggestion is a forceful one similar to the Natural History museum in NYC where a rather large guard blocks the entrance until you cough up $18 but it\'s well worth it.
