A dream of a place. Created by a California architect and his artist wife, the stone terraces of the spacious villas overlook Alajuela. They will pack you a picnic lunch to take on the trails leading through their plantation to five waterfalls. Xandari’s spa is unique: Each massage room is a small thatched-roof building with one wall open to the gardens and valley views. The two-person hot-tubs are sheltered by the cozy room, yet give a wonderful feeling of being in nature.

Xandari is located in the suburb of Tacacori, about ten minutes north of Alajuela. Recommended.
